Night Diver

The sun has set.  Day is over?  Not quite yet if you are a scuba diver that likes a change of adventure.  There is a full moon and everyone is starting to get ready.  Checking equipment and lights and then making sure of the plan.  Mother Nature changes in dramatic ways at night.  On coral reefs, stag horn coral can go from looking like antlers to full bushes.  Even in our neck of the woods of Chicago, fish start to feed more.  Activity starts to pick up and you can have a front row seat to all of it.

Night diving truly has the ability to change a world and perception of what happens underwater.  Bad pun but it is night and day.  Many creatures do not even come out in the daylight, but they are on full display at night.  Taking the Night Diver Specialty gets you ready to tackle this new world of diving.  No longer do you have just your sight to work with.  You will need other skills to maintain your proficiency underwater.

To take the Night Diver Specialty, you need to be at least 12 years old or older.  You must also posses a certification level of at least Open Water or Junior Open Water Diver.  This is a 3 dive specialty along with knowledge development.

With your Night Diver Specialty, you may be interested in a Project Aware Specialty.  These specialties are focused on the environment and you will see that change at night.  Another specialty that could interest you is the Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty.  This one helps you maintain your buoyancy when you don’t have any references.

Course cost is $150.00
